For my design of Sligo Gaol I wanted to create an unconventional design that contradicts the accepted definition of a boutique hotel.
Boutique hotels are known for their lavish and sophisticated looks and unique experiences. Modern design and luxurious finishes are prevalent within these hotels. This trend inevitably makes such hotels feel less unique and more common. In contrast, I decided to create a cheap and affordable hotel taking inspiration from both Asian street markets and Japanese capsule hotels.
