Sligo Central Library

For Semester one we were tasked with creating a reading room within an old Methodists church which now serves as a library in Sligo town. The concept for this project was about the connection between the past and present. We often look to the past for inspiration, and I wanted to encapsulate this in the reading room. The reading room offers an immersive experience and allows the user to isolate themselves within the library.

I grew up in Donegal and I have always had a strong interest in history and architecture. I have always been fascinated by seeing historical buildings and how they create a sense of place within an area. Over the past four years in IT Sligo, I have learned a lot and I have taken part in a range of interesting projects through both group work and individually.
